Leaders should Has the quality and capacity to influence the other people in the Organization. A manager should has the leadership quality for facing different situational problem and motivate, control, and decision making process in the Organization. There are various leadership styles followed by the difference Organization and it has different theories and approach. There are various Leadership theories and styles which are described below:
1. Autocratic leadership
Autocratic leaders have extreme power over the stuff in the
Organization. Suggestions, decisions by the Staff and team members are not
Acceptable to the Autocratic leaders
Though those are good for the organization's well being. To practice autocratic
Leadership in the organization often cause of high levels of staff turnover and absenteeism.
2. Bureaucratic leadership
Bureaucratic leaders follow the rules strictly and they
Influence their staff to follow the procedures
And rules.
3. Charismatic leadership
A charismatic leadership style is similar
To transformational leadership style. Teams, groups, staffs are inspired by
These charismatic leaders .
4. Democratic leadership or participative leadership
Democratic leaders involve other team
members and give opportunity to
participate in the final decision-making process. It develops the people's skills and increases job
satisfaction among the team members.
5. Laissez-faire leadership
laissez-faire leaders depend and leave
their work to the team members to on their own.
This is effectively work when,
experienced and skilled team members done their work effectively by themselves.
When sufficient control is no occurred then these leadership style can be applied.
6. Leadership focused on relations
Under this style, leaders focus on
organizing, supporting, and developing the employee relationship. It is the
alternate style of task-oriented leadership.
7. Task-Oriented leadership
Task-Oriented
leaders want to get task done. They
are similar to the autocratic
leaders. Well-being of their teams are not focused by these task-oriented
leaders .This approach leads to de-motivate and high turnover of the staff.
8.Transactional leadership and Transformational leadership
Transactional leaders can punish team
members if the team members doesn't fulfill the standard of the work. under transactional
leadership little job satisfaction is shown by the Team members. Alternatively,
"management by exception" is practiced by the Transformational leaders. These leaders take corrective action when it is required.
9.Situational Leadership
In the 1950s, Ohio
State University and the University of Michigan theorists published a series of
studies to determine whether leaders should be more task or relationship
(people) oriented. Research shows that there is no one best style at
all. Leaders must have to adjust their leadership style according to their situation
as well as to the people being led.
